The 2024 US election
83-year-old Nancy Pelosi is aiming for re-election next year
The former speaker of the United States, the 83-year-old Democrat Nancy Pelosi, wants to be re-elected next year to the House of Representatives, where she has represented San Francisco since 1987. ABC News reports.
"Now more than ever, our city needs us to promote San Francisco's values and continue our recovery," she writes on X, formerly Twitter.
Pelosi was the Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023. Before that, she had been the minority leader since 2011.
Aging top politicians is a hotly debated topic in the US. 80-year-old President Biden, 90-year-old Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein and 81-year-old Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell have all had their fitness questioned in light of their advanced age.

The charges against Trump
Jury recommended that 39 people be charged
A
grand jury in US Georgia recommended that charges be filed against a
total of 39 people, including South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, as
part of the election fraud investigation. This is reported by AP.
Prosecutor
Fani Willis ultimately brought charges against 19 people, including
former President Donald Trump and his lawyer Rudy Giuliani. They are suspected of trying to annul the election results in the state in the 2020 presidential election.
Among
those recommended by the grand jury for indictment are former Georgia
senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, as well as Trump's former
national security adviser Michael Flynn.
A grand jury, in English, is tasked with deciding whether evidence in a legal case can lead to criminal charges or not.
