DN/Ipsos: Time for the king to hand over the throne
On September 15, King Carl XVI Gustaf has been Sweden's regent for 50 years. The majority of Swedes believe that he has done his job well, but that it is now time to hand over the throne to Crown Princess Viktoria. This is according to a survey from DN/Ipsos.
64 percent of those who responded to the survey think that the king has done a good job during his years on the throne. Only six percent of those who responded believe that he has done a bad job.
However, 43 percent of those who answered believe that the king should hand over the throne to the crown princess. 38 percent think he should stay and 20 percent are unsure.
- The king's time on the throne is running out, if you listen to the voters. There is a clear shift in opinion, says Nicklas Källebring, opinion analyst at Ipsos.

One year since the Queen's death: "We miss you"
Friday marks one year since Britain's Queen Elizabeth II died. The day was celebrated with a memorial ceremony in St. David's Cathedral in Wales, Reuters reports.
In statements, she is praised, among others, by her son King Charles III and grandson Prince William.
- We remember with great affection her long life, devoted service and everything she meant to so many of us, says the king.
"We all miss you," William and his wife Kate wrote on social media.
Salutes were fired across the country, and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak sent condolences to the royal family on behalf of the nation.
When Elizabeth II died at the age of 96, she was the longest-reigning British monarch in history: 70 years.
