According to the Times of Israel, it is the first open demand for the resignation of Netanyahu since the start of the war.  
 
Lapid is calling for a new coalition government - led by Netanyahu's right-wing Likud party, but without Netanyahu - to bring unity to the country. 
 
- Likud gets to lead it, Netanyahu and the extremists are replaced, and over 90 members of the Knesset make common cause in a coalition for healing and gathering.  
 
Netanyahu's Likud today leads a coalition government that includes several far-right parties. It has 64 of the Knesset's 120 seats.

Assad announces amnesty for convicted Syrians  
 
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has announced an amnesty for the country's criminals - with some exceptions, Reuters reports.  
 
According to the state news agency Sana, sentences are lifted for, among other things, those who have committed less serious crimes, suffer from incurable diseases or are over 70 years old. Those who caused deaths or were involved in arms smuggling are exempt from the amnesty. 
 
All those sentenced to death have their sentences commuted to life, and those sentenced to life have their sentences fixed at 20 years.
