French criticism: The weapons a threat to the people of Syria
After two years of investigation, a Paris court has issued an international arrest warrant for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, his brother Maher and two senior military officers. They are accused of war crimes in connection with sarin gas attacks outside Damascus in 2013.
At the same time, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs directs harsh criticism at how Syria handles the issue of chemical weapons, reports Radio France.
“Regular use since 2013 shows that the country has not destroyed its chemical warfare agents. They continue to pose a threat to the people of Syria and to regional and international security," the ministry writes in a statement.
