Political situation in Great Britain
Braverman's attack on Sunak: "Failed the country"
Suella Braverman angrily attacks Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in an open letter after she was sacked as UK Home Secretary, Sky News reports.
She writes that she accepted the post "under certain conditions", including reducing immigration, and accuses Sunak of repeatedly failing her and the country and not keeping his promises on that point or others.
“Either your particular way of governing means that you are incapable of doing so. Or, as I must conclude now, you never intended to keep your promises.”
Furthermore, she describes the Prime Minister's actions as "uncertain and weak" and accuses him of habitually "avoiding tough decisions in order to reduce the political risk for (himself)".

The change of leadership in NATO
Kaja Kallas opens to take over from Stoltenberg

In the past, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, has also expressed his interest. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, however, have refused.
In July, it became clear that Stoltenberg's mandate would be extended until 1 October 2024.

The charges against Trump
The prosecutor: Trial against Trump will last until 2025
Georgia prosecutor Fani Willis estimates that a trial against Donald Trump and 14 other defendants related to election fraud in the state will last until the beginning of 2025. She tells the Washington Post that.
If the indictment goes to trial, it could therefore be in full swing during, and during the run-up to, the presidential election in November 2024 – and perhaps also on January 20, 2025, when a new mandate period begins.
- When I make decisions about which charges to bring, I do not take election campaigns into account. What I take into account is the law, says Willis.

The volcanic threat in Iceland
Gas alarms have gone off in Iceland - magman is high
A text message has gone out in the volcano-threatened area of Iceland calling for evacuation after sulfur dioxide was measured in the air, which occurs when magma is high in the earth's crust. This is reported by the Norwegian Dagbladet's reporter on the spot.
- This is what was feared, that magma would come up to the earth's crust, which could lead to the widening of the cracks that had formed, and that magma would push out and damage buildings.
The police say that chaos arose in the community of Grindavik when residents were given five to seven minutes to collect the most important items - a time limit that many exceeded.
