Aircraft alert in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv - Knesset evacuated
Hamas states that it has fired rockets at central Israel, several media reports. Air raid alarms sound in the country's two largest cities, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and a video on social media shows how politicians in the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, were forced to evacuate the building.
The Times of Israel writes that the parliamentarians had to interrupt their session in the chamber and seek protection in shelters. After about 40 minutes, the politicians were able to continue.
According to Al Jazeera, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was one of the politicians allowed to seek protection.

Border crossing between Gaza and Egypt attacked
The Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt has been hit in an attack, reports AFP's correspondent on the scene.
Hundreds of Palestinians have gathered at Rafah with the hope of being able to leave the Gaza Strip.
It is not yet clear if anyone has been injured or killed in the attack. Hamas-affiliated media say that Israel carried out an airstrike against the border crossing, reports Sky News.
Israel has not yet commented on the incident.

EU opens air corridor to Gaza and holds summit
The EU will open a humanitarian air corridor to the Gaza Strip. This is what Commission President Ursula von der Leyen says at a press conference, according to AFP.

von der Leyen says the first two flights will take off this week.
