Leader: War in the Middle East came at the right time for Putin
It is Hamas for all the money in Thursday's leadership sweep.
The government's decision to pause development aid to Palestine is praised. Dagens Industri's Tobias Wikström thinks that the decision is the only reasonable one - partly as a precautionary measure, partly as a clear indication after Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas did not distance himself from Hamas' terrorist attacks.
But DN's leadership side believes that the decision is understandable, but thinks that you have to think one step further. The support goes to the civilian population and not to Hamas, and the risk is that the terrorist organization is strengthened when ordinary Palestinians take the full brunt, the paper reasons.
"That in a situation when it is more important than ever that they are not left in the hands of the terrorist movement."
Despite Hamas's attacks in Israel, the outside world must not forget Ukraine, writes Expressen's editorial page. Otherwise, the risk is that Vladimir Putin will be the real winner.
“A war in the Middle East came at just the right time for the Kremlin. Therefore, it is not far-fetched to believe that Putin would have a hand in the game.”

Blinken: "Hamas has only one agenda, to kill Jews"
Hamas is "pure evil" and must be treated in the same way as the terrorist group IS. This is what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says at a press meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Netanyahu accuses Hamas of "slaughtering entire families", "burning people alive" and carrying out beheadings.
Blinken says that Israel will never have to defend itself "as long as the United States exists." He supports Netanyahu's parallels between Hamas and IS, but says that "Hamas does not represent the Palestinian people".
- Hamas has only one agenda, to destroy Israel and kill Jews.
At the press conference, Blinken confirms that at least 25 Americans have been killed in Hamas attacks.

Trump: Netanyahu let us down before the Soleimani attack
Former US President Donald Trump says Israel and its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "betrayed" the US in connection with the attack that killed top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in 2020.
According to Trump, the attack must have been planned together with Israel for several months before Israel - without further explanation - canceled its participation the night before the attack.
- We were disappointed. Very disappointed, says Trump according to AP, and at the same time claims that Netanyahu tried to take credit.
A retired Israeli officer has previously stated that Israel provided the United States with intelligence information, writes the Washington Post.
