The 2024 US election

Professor on Trump's new rhetoric: "Echoes of fascism"

Former US President Donald Trump has recently been responsible for the most "furious attacks" against his opponents to date, leading to concern among several experts the New York Times spoke to.

The newspaper writes that Trump, during a speech on Veterans Day, used language that brings to mind "authoritarian leaders who came to power in Germany and Italy in the 1930s". As an example, the newspaper highlights Trump's comment that "the threat from outside forces is much less ominous and serious than the threats from within".

- There are echoes of fascist rhetoric, and they are very precise, says Professor Ruth Ben-Ghiat at New York University.

Trump is seen as the most likely challenger to incumbent President Joe Biden in the upcoming presidential election.

Cardi B breaks up with Biden: "Will drown in rats"

Cardi B supported Joe Biden before the 2020 election - but now the American rapper has had enough of the president. This is because of the contradiction she feels she sees between American domestic and foreign policy, she says in a live broadcast on Instagram according to several media.

She believes that US support for Ukraine and Israel, for example, extends beyond New York's municipal services.

- In New York, we have a budget saving of 120 million dollars that will affect schools, libraries and the police. And $5 million less on cleaning. We will drown ... in rats, says Cardi B on the broadcast.
