Task: Israel notified the US during the course of the attack
The
US received no advance information from Israel about the deadly attack
on the Hamas stop Saleh al-Arouri in Lebanon yesterday. However, the United States must have been informed during the time the attack was underway. This is information that both the New York Times and Axios have.
Israel has neither confirmed nor denied that it was behind the explosion that occurred in a suburb of Beirut. Unrest
has characterized the relationship between Lebanon and Israel since the
Hamas attack on October 7, but in the capital it has been calm until
now.
al-Arouri
has played a key role in the terror group's relations with regional
allies, and the United States has previously offered a reward of up to
five million dollars for information on his activities. He
was high on Israel's "death list" and, according to the New York Times,
he was portrayed as a joker in a deck of cards given to Israeli
soldiers to identify Hamas leaders.

Hezbollah and Iran warn Israel of consequences
Iran
and the Lebanese militia group Hezbollah are warning Israel of what
will happen after the deadly attack on the Hamas stop Saleh al-Arouri,
Haaretz and Al Jazeera report. Haaretz writes that Iran also accuses the United States of being behind the rising tensions.
"The
malicious activities of the Israeli regime's terror machinery in other
countries are a real threat to peace and security," writes Iran's
Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on X.
At the same time, Hezbollah has issued a statement condemning the killing of al-Aroui and describing it as an attack on Lebanon.
"We assure that this crime will not go unanswered and punished," the group writes.
Israel has neither confirmed nor denied that it was behind the attack on al-Arouri, which took place on Lebanese soil. On
Wednesday, the Israeli army intensified its attacks in Gaza, and
military spokesman Daniel Hagari said the forces were on high alert for
any conceivable scenario, according to Reuters.

USA: Hamas and Islamic Jihad used hospitals
Hamas and Islamic Jihad have been using the al-Shifa hospital in Gaza as a command center, according to new US intelligence. In
addition to the terror-labeled groups using tunnels under the hospital
for "control activities", they also kept weapons and "at least a few
hostages" there.
The hospital was the scene of intense fighting in November. Israel claims that Hamas used the facility as a command center. The Washington Post recently questioned the data in an investigative article. Several organizations have also criticized the Israeli army for the offensive against the hospital.
According to the NYT's sources, the new intelligence is the most up-to-date US assessment of the situation at the hospital. The information does not contain visual evidence, but the authorities are said to be sure of their case.
