The latest Russian long-range attacks against Ukraine have been aimed at defense industrial targets, the British Ministry of Defense writes on X in an update on the war. The arrangement differs markedly from last winter. At the time, Russia prioritized attacking energy infrastructure.
Britain considers that this could be a, at least temporary, change for the Russian military.
In the past week, Russia has carried out several major attacks. On December 29 and January 2, Ukraine was bombarded with rockets and drones.
The British Ministry of Defense believes the change in Russia's approach has to do with seeing long-term value in undermining Ukraine's defense capabilities as the war is expected to drag on.
