The knife attack in Paris

The 32-year-old perpetrator was carrying a knife and hammer - nothing to indicate terror  

 

Saturday morning's stabbing at the Gare de Lyon train station in Paris is not being investigated as a terrorist crime. At the moment, there is also no indication of terror, writes the television channel BFM.  

 

Three people were injured, including an elderly man who is seriously injured. Witnesses say that the perpetrator set fire to his own backpack. When passers-by asked what he was doing, he attacked them with a knife and hammer he was carrying. A police source tells Le Figaro that the man has mental problems. 

 

The perpetrator is called "Kossogue S" in the French media, is 32 years old and originally from Mali. He is said to have had Italian ID documents, which, according to Le Figaro, indicates that he was in a legal process regarding his residence status in France.  

 

According to a police source, the perpetrator is previously unknown to the police in both Italy and France.

Three injured in knife attack in central Paris – one arrested  

 

Three people are injured after a knife attack at the Gare de Lyon train station in Paris on Saturday morning. One of them is said to be seriously injured, French media reports. 

 

One person was arrested after a quick police operation, according to the TV channel BFM. The motive is still unknown. 

 

A police source tells BFM, Le Figaro and AFP that the perpetrator showed an Italian driver's license when he was arrested. The man is said not to have made any religious proclamations in connection with the crime.  

 

The incident occurred at 08:00 on Saturday morning.
