Saturday morning's stabbing at the Gare de Lyon train station in Paris is not being investigated as a terrorist crime. At the moment, there is also no indication of terror, writes the television channel BFM.
Three people were injured, including an elderly man who is seriously injured. Witnesses say that the perpetrator set fire to his own backpack. When passers-by asked what he was doing, he attacked them with a knife and hammer he was carrying. A police source tells Le Figaro that the man has mental problems.
The perpetrator is called "Kossogue S" in the French media, is 32 years old and originally from Mali. He is said to have had Italian ID documents, which, according to Le Figaro, indicates that he was in a legal process regarding his residence status in France.
According to a police source, the perpetrator is previously unknown to the police in both Italy and France.
