Trump wants record protection - Iranian threat worries

Donald Trump's election campaign has requested privacy protections that are more extensive than those of any previous presidential candidate, the Washington Post reports based on email correspondence and source information.

Trump's advisers are said to have become very concerned after the current administration announced that there was information that Iran was planning to assassinate him.

The concerns are about the risk of drone and robot attacks, and the requests are, among other things, about extended flight restrictions over Trump's residences and that he should travel in military planes and other military vehicles during the last weeks of the election campaign.

There is no evidence linking Iran to any of the assassination attempts on Trump. The FBI has previously warned that Iran wants to avenge the drone strike against Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani in 2020.
