The EU-China relationship

China to the EU: Do not negotiate with companies about tariffs

China does not want the EU to proceed with separate negotiations on tariffs with individual companies, reports Reuters. It would "shake the foundations" of the bilateral negotiations, the country's trade ministry believes.

The Ministry of Commerce cites "relevant reporting" in the matter as the basis for such negotiations taking place. For the Swedish part, Foreign Trade Minister Benjamin Dousa (M) has said that they have been told that negotiations are underway to give Volvo Cars a special solution.

Dousa on EU tariffs: A yes sat deep inside

Sweden dropped its vote and the yes side won on the issue of permanent EU tariffs against China. Putting down the vote was a long time coming, says Foreign Trade Minister Benjamin Dousa (M) to TT.

- It was really about one thing and that is that we received positive signals from the commission that they will start negotiating a special solution for Volvo Cars.

Inge promises have been made, but negotiations are ongoing that Volvo Cars will get an exception if they promise a certain price for some electric car models, the newspaper writes.
