Political situation in Cameroon

Media condemns the ban: "I will continue"

Journalists in Cameroon see the ban on reporting on President Paul Biya's health as an attack on press freedom, the BBC writes. The organization Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) condemns the ban and believes that the government can put an end to rumors about the 91-year-old president's death through a public appearance.

In a statement, CPJ writes that the president's health status is of public interest. An anonymous reporter says the ban will probably take effect but refuses to be intimidated.

- I will continue to do my job.

For several years now, the president has ruled the country from a hotel in Geneva. He has not been seen since the beginning of September.
