Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump continues to accuse his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris of lying about her previous summer job at McDonalds.

Now Trump has put on the apron himself and started working at the fast food chain.

The McDonalds restaurant in the city of Feasterville-Trevose in Pennsylvania got an unusual extra worker, to say the least.

"I've really wanted to do this my whole life," Trump said as he stepped off his plane on Sunday.

His opponent Kamala Harris has been open about working at the fast food chain during her student years in Washington. She stood at the cash register making fries during the summer of 1983. Trump claims she is lying, but presents no evidence that his claim is true.

- It's like not a big deal, but I can be honest with you, it's terrible, Trump said during a campaign meeting in Detroit on Friday.

Got fries

At the fast food restaurant, Trump received instructions from an employee on how to set down baskets of French fries in frying oil, then help pack some orders for takeout.

- It actually requires great expertise to do it right and to do it quickly, says Trump with a grin, AP writes.

In a live broadcast from The Sunday Times, Trump says that he has now "worked at McDonalds".

- I have now worked 15 minutes more than Kamala. She has never worked here, he says in the live broadcast.

He also held an impromptu press conference through the drive thru window where he answered questions from journalists.

Fast food - a Trump thing

Trump has also for a long time had as a strategy to question the work experience of his political opponents.

The presidential candidate is known for eating fast food with a knife and fork, something that is almost laughable in the US, writes DN.

The former president's love for McDonalds is nothing new. In 2019, when he was president, he would invite the college football champions, the Clemson Tigers, to the annual ceremony and an all-around fancy dinner at the White House. It was a McDonalds buffet.

During the visit to the restaurant, Trump said that he now "appreciates it a little more".

- You say "give me fries". I will never forget this experience, he says according to AP.
