The future of the Democrats

Andrew Yang: Be sure that Harris is running in the election

Top Democrat Kamala Harris is getting ready to run for president in 2028. At least if you are to believe former party colleague Andrew Yang, who himself tried to become the Democratic candidate in the 2020 election.

"I've heard that Kamala Harris' team is telling people in California that she is preparing to run for president again in 2028," Yang writes on X, without elaborating.

Yang has also opened up about making another attempt in the 2028 election, now as an independent candidate, writes Fox.

The 2028 primaries arouse anger on the left

The progressive wing of the Democrats is critical of the party's primary election calendar ahead of the 2028 presidential election, reports Axios.

At a meeting on Friday, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) decided to start the primaries in South Carolina, the same state where left-wing Bernie Sanders suffered major defeats in 2016 and 2020.

The decision comes as several progressive candidates have made strong gains in the primaries ahead of the midterm elections, deepening the internal battle over the party’s future direction.

Critics say the choice of South Carolina is an attempt to favor a more centrist presidential candidate. The state was chosen before Nevada, where Sanders won in 2020.

According to Puck magazine, DNC members were concerned that Nevada, as the first state, could give a new socialist candidate early momentum.
