Trump: Lower interest rates – or there will be a trade freeze

Donald Trump is once again trying to pressure the central bank to lower the US benchmark interest rate.

“Lower interest rates or I will impose a trade freeze on countries we have a deficit with,” he writes on Truth Social.

The call comes after the extremely strong jobs figure for August that was reported today: 162,000 new jobs, three times higher than the market’s expectation.

The listing boom
Finnish tech company Oura wants to be listed on the US stock exchange

The Finnish start-up company Oura, which manufactures rings that can measure health data, has applied for a stock exchange listing in the US. This is reported by Bloomberg.

The company’s rings have increased significantly in popularity in recent years, with more and more people wanting to measure sleep, for example, by wearing a ring instead of sleeping with a watch, the news agency writes.

The company's revenue has increased sharply – but it is still making big losses. An IPO is expected to raise around $3 billion.

Today's stock market
Wall Street waits to see off record jobs figures

Wall Street opens waits to see off record jobs figures on Friday. In opening trade, the S&P 500 is down 0.1 percent and the Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 0.3 percent, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index is sideways.

An hour before the open, the US Department of Labor announced that 162,000 jobs were created outside the agricultural sector in August, around three times more than the market's expectation of 55,000.

Yesterday, all major technology companies rose, but today it is more mixed. Nvidia is up nearly one percent, while Microsoft and Apple are down slightly. Tesla is down 4 percent after launching its new robot taxi Cybercab
