Naftogaz believes that the money from the sale should cover the values ​​that were seized when Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula in 2014. But the district court does not want to make a decision on the demand yet.

“Regarding the plaintiff’s request for forced sale, the court considers that there is a lack of legal support for initiating the realization of the seizure pledge without the other party first being given the opportunity to express its views,” the decision states.

German politicians have called for the facility to be closed, accusing it of containing advanced technical equipment, which is consuming unusually high amounts of electricity, the newspaper writes. The French Interior Ministry has also singled out the facility for use as a “spy center.”

The decision to close the facility comes after Germany blamed Russia for drones found at Leipzig airport. In connection with this, Germany summoned the Russian ambassador and closed the consulate in Bonn.
