Celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States
Historian: Trump won – will enjoy the fruits
Donald Trump won the presidential election, and during the planned celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, he will enjoy the fruits of his success. This is what presidential historian Craig Shirley tells The Hill.
– It's simply how the system works.
The anniversary will be celebrated with, among other things, a two-week music festival, an MMA gala in the White House garden and, if Trump gets his way: a 250-dollar bill with his face on it.
Critics have accused the president of politicizing a celebration that should be about the United States as a country.

Trump gives up control of the Kennedy Center
Donald Trump is giving up control of the Kennedy Center cultural center, which he has long tried to put his own name on. The president writes this on Truth Social.
The statement comes after a federal judge ruled that it is illegal for the center to change its name. The judge also ruled that the Kennedy Center will not be allowed to close for renovation.
“We will work with Congress to hand over this ailing institution to them so they can make a decision on what to do with it,” Trump wrote.

Doctor: Trump is in excellent health – but should lose weight
Donald Trump's health is excellent, but he would benefit from losing weight. This is what his doctor Sean Barbabella wrote in a statement released by the White House, according to several media outlets.
“President Trump continues to be in excellent health and exhibits strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological and overall physical fitness,” the statement said.
It also states that the president has gained weight since his last check-up, from 101.6 to 108 kilograms. He also takes three medications, two to lower cholesterol and one to prevent cardiovascular disease.

New boat attack in the Pacific Ocean – death toll nears 200
Three people were killed when US military forces struck a designated drug boat last night, writes AFP. A video clip that the military has published on X shows how the boat is hit and catches fire. According to the post, the boat was traveling along a "known drug smuggling route".
The death toll during US attacks on ships allegedly smuggling drugs has now reached 198 people, since September.
The attacks have been criticized by both human rights groups and politicians, and no definitive evidence has been presented that the ships have actually been used for smuggling.
