The China-Russia relationship
Putin has landed in China: "Sees the desire for cooperation"
Vladimir Putin is said to have landed in Beijing where he was received by the Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao, according to the Japan Times.
The Russian president is making his first visit to China since 2022, and one of very few foreign trips since he launched the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The meeting is held, among other things, on the occasion of a recurring forum on China's infrastructure project "the new silk road".
In an interview with Chinese state television CCTV, Putin defends the project, which has been criticized as part of Chinese imperialism.
- Yes, we know that some consider it a way for the People's Republic of China to exert pressure, but we see it in a different way, we see a quest for cooperation, says Putin.
The meeting is also attended by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Serbian President Aleksadar Vucić, as well as representatives of over 100 other countries.
