Thailand's announcement: Ready for contract talks on the Gripen

Saab has come one step closer to selling the Jas 39 Gripen to Thailand. Sweden has received a letter in which it appears that Thailand has chosen Saab's fighter aircraft in terms of type selection, says CEO Micael Johansson to TT.

- We are now working together with the Swedish government to create an agreement between Sweden and Thailand, he says.

A negotiation team will now be put together to negotiate a contract with the Thai state, says Johansson.

It is already known that Thailand's defense forces have preferred the Gripen.

The report flood

Saab's order intake smashed estimates - up 41 percent

Saab's order intake was significantly better than analysts expected and rose 41 percent year-on-year in the third quarter. CEO Micael Johansson writes in the interim report that both large and small orders increased in the quarter, which reflects the strength of the portfolio.

"Our order backlog now amounts to SEK 190 billion, which will support the company's future growth," he writes further.

Profit and turnover also increased slightly more than expected and rose 38 and 17 percent respectively compared to the same period last year.

Saab's operating margin amounted to 8.8 percent, which was also somewhat better than expected, and rose from last year's 7.5 percent.
