The floods in Bosnia

The village of Jablanica buried under stones after race

The village of Jablanica in southern Bosnia has been hit hard by the heavy floods that hit the country. At least 18 people have died and rescue workers are still working to find missing people.

Almost all of Jablanica was buried in stones after a large landslide on one of the large hills in the village, writes the news agency AP. Residents testify about how houses disappeared before their eyes in connection with the landslide.

- We heard water and stones coming down from the hill, says Munevera Dautbegovic, who together with her son took shelter in the attic.

- When we came out in the morning, we saw large amounts of sand all around.
