A drone was found at an airport in Leipzig late Tuesday night. According to the German Bild, it was loaded with explosives.

The incident led to several flights having to be diverted from the airport.

The drone was found near a Ukrainian Antonov aircraft. After a closer examination, it turned out that it had a detonator and contained explosives, according to the Bild newspaper. No explosion occurred, as the ignition device is said to have been defective.

Several ongoing flights had to be diverted after the drone discovery. This led to an aircraft in the air, near Leipzig-Halle airport, colliding with an unknown object. According to the German Interior Ministry, however, the plane was then able to land safely in the city of Hanover.

The authorities are classifying the incident as an attempted attack, according to information obtained by Bild.
