EU donates 15 billion from Russian assets to Ukraine

The EU has made the equivalent of 15 billion kronor in profit on Russian assets frozen by the Union. The money will now be used to support Ukraine, writes Reuters.

- Russia must pay for the devastation it has caused. And we are using the profit from the frozen Russian assets to ensure that they do so, says EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The profit comes from the interest on money from the Russian central bank that the EU froze after the Russian invasion of Ukraine began.

No missiles were shot down last night: "Neither surprising nor good"

Ukraine failed to shoot down a single Russian missile during last night's major attack wave on Kyiv, when at least 17 people were killed. This is stated by the country's air defense according to TT.

– It is neither surprising nor good, says military expert Joakim Paasikivi to the news agency.

However, he points out that Ukraine could be withholding information deliberately, to emphasize the need for more air defense. 

Kyiv: North Korean missiles arrive in Russia

A missile system from North Korea has been placed in western Russia, Ukraine's military intelligence service says according to Reuters.

The system is believed to be equipped with 120 ballistic missiles and will be used for attacks on Ukraine, according to the intelligence service.

– Defense against ballistic missiles is one of Ukraine's greatest vulnerabilities, so any increase in the number of ballistic missiles will pose a major challenge, says military analyst Rob Lee.

This is not the first time North Korea has sent missiles and personnel to Russia. According to Ukrainian military sources, North Korean missiles have a longer range than Russian ones, but less precision, and can be linked to attacks with high civilian casualties.
