Proud Boys leader gets 17 years in prison for storming 

Joseph Biggs, one of the leaders of the extremist group Proud Boys in the United States, is sentenced to 17 years in prison for his involvement in the storming of the Capitol in 2021.  

The sentence is the second harshest of the hundreds that have been handed down so far, according to USA Today.  

Prosecutors wanted Biggs to be sentenced to 33 years in prison. He is described as the driving force behind the violent protests against the election results and is said to have broken through several police cordons, as well as helping the crowd to get further into the congress. 

- I know I set it up that day. But I'm not a terrorist, Biggs said before the sentence.

The charges against 

Trump Trump denies any wrongdoing - does not have to appear in court  

Donald Trump denies in writing all the allegations in the indictment in the state of Georgia, according to court documents. That means he does not have to appear in court in Fulton County on Tuesday.  

Trump is accused of trying to influence the state's 2020 election results, including by spreading false rumors about voter fraud. He is also said to have urged officials and politicians to annul the result. There are also 18 co-defendants in the case. 

In total, Trump is accused of 91 counts in a total of four legal cases.

Now the hurricane has been downgraded in strength to a tropical storm and continues across the country
