Trump wants to change the judge and the trial city
Donald Trump and his legal team will request that Judge Tanya Chutkan be replaced, he writes on his social media platform Truth Social.
"It is impossible for me to get a fair trial with the judge 'appointed' in this ridiculous (case)," writes the ex-president in capitals.
He adds that they will also request that the case be moved from Washington DC, a city where Democrats have by far the most support.
Appointed by Barack Obama in 2014, Chutkan was chosen at random from among the twelve judges of the Washington DC federal court.
She previously ruled against Trump in a November 2021 trial, when Trump tried to withhold 700 pages of White House documents from the special committee investigating the storming of the Capitol.
In her judgment, she wrote, among other things, "presidents are not kings, and the plaintiff is not president".

Demands are growing for Trump's trial to be broadcast live
More and more politicians and lawyers are demanding that the historic trial against ex-president Donald Trump be broadcast live from the courtroom, reports AFP.
"If the public is to accept the outcome, it is of the utmost importance that they get to see how the legal process works, how strong the evidence is and how credible the witnesses are," writes Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff.

Trump's attack on Pence: He is delusional
Donald Trump launches his harshest attack yet on former Vice President Mike Pence, CNN reports.
On his social media platform "Truth Social", Trump writes that Pence is "confused" and that he has "delusions and now wants to show that he is a tough man". This after Pence criticized Trump for, among other things, trying to place himself above the constitution after the 2020 election results.
According to the indictments, which were presented earlier this week, Pence was pressured several times by the ex-president to help invalidate Joe Biden's victory in the presidential election, writes the Washington Post.
"doesn't want the people to see the truth".
Legal expert Alan Dershowitz is also in favor of a live broadcast to offer an insight that is not colored by the media.
"It will be like two trials: one watched by reporters for MSNBC, CNN, the New York Times and the liberal media, and one watched by reporters from Fox, Newsmax and the conservative media."
