At least five soldiers have been killed in a suicide attack on the military in northeastern Nigeria on Sunday, local security and defense sources said.

Sani Uba, a spokesman for the military in the northeastern parts of the country, confirmed the attack near the border with Cameroon, but did not confirm the deaths.

The suicide bomber is suspected of being a member of Boko Haram, according to Umar Sa'idu, a member of a local militia group who helped take the soldiers to hospital.
