The Israel-Hamas War/The Israel-Hezbollah conflict

Hezbollah: We will attack again if targets are not met

Hezbollah is analyzing the effects of this morning's attacks on Israeli targets, the Lebanon-based terrorist group's leader Hassan Nasrallah said in a speech on Sunday evening.

- If the results are not considered sufficient, we will respond at another time, says Nasrallah according to Reuters.

The leader describes the robot, drone and rocket attacks as a success and downplays the importance of Israel's "preemptive" strikes. Nasrallah claims, among other things, that the group's precision robots have not been used, but that it could happen in future attacks.

Experts: The situation can be calmed - if both sides are satisfied

Although the situation remains volatile, Sunday's attacks between Hezbollah and Israel could lead to a de-escalation of the conflict. That's what Middle East expert Anders Persson tells Ekot.

- It can happen if both sides are satisfied with the outcome and consider that this round is over, he says.

And the fact is that both parties claim success, according to SR's Middle East correspondent Cecilia Uddén. Israel says it succeeded in sabotaging Hezbollah's revenge attack through a pre-emptive strike, while Hezbollah calls the large-scale attack a success.

- But the key to avoiding a major war lies in Gaza, in the negotiations on a ceasefire and in the release of the hostages, says Uddén.

Task: Reassuring message after the attacks - Israel and Hezbollah have been in contact

Israel and Hezbollah have been in contact via third parties after Sunday's massive attacks, two diplomatic sources told Reuters. The message conveyed must have been that neither party is interested in the conflict escalating further.

According to the news agency's information, both Israel and the Iran-backed terrorist group believe that the matter has been staged at the moment. The data contradict Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statement that "the last word has not been said".

Early on Sunday, Hezbollah stated that it launched a major attack with drones, robots and rockets against Israel. Israel, in turn, stated that it carried out attacks against targets in Lebanon as a preventive measure.

Netanyahu on the attacks: "The last word has not been said"

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warns that "the last word has not been said" regarding the conflict with Hezbollah, AFP reports.

- We attack Hezbollah with surprising and killing blows. This is another step towards changing the situation in the north and safely returning our residents to their homes, Netanyahu said.

At the same time, Hezbollah states that it actively worked to ensure that the retaliation after the attack that killed the terrorist group's top military leader, Fuad Shukr, should not lead to a full-scale war, writes Reuters.

Iran-backed Houthi rebels congratulate Hezbollah on what they call a "big and brave attack".

"We repeat that the Yemeni response will inevitably come," the group writes in a statement according to Haaretz.
