Germany arrests Ukrainian – accused of espionage
A Ukrainian citizen has been arrested in Germany on suspicion of having “filmed a Bavarian arms manufacturer in preparation for acts of sabotage,” German police announced on Thursday.
The 33-year-old Ukrainian was arrested on August 2 in the state of Thuringia and is described as suspected of being a “low-level agent” – on behalf of an intelligence service belonging to a foreign power, the Bavarian police said in a statement.
The man is believed to have taken photos of the company in June this year and then offered them to his handlers.
The suspect has been detained pending trial.
