The ship Caffa, which was boarded in the spring, can now be handed over to Ukraine.

This after the Supreme Court (HD) rejected the appeal, reports TV4 Nyheterna.

Caffa was boarded by Swedish authorities outside Trelleborg on March 6. According to the Coast Guard, the bulk carrier is listed on Ukraine's sanctions list, "where information indicates that it is transporting grain stolen from Ukraine".

Ystad District Court decided in June that the ship can be handed over to Ukraine, and the Court of Appeal later decided the same thing. The case is now being denied review by the HD, which has reviewed the material but found no reason to grant leave to appeal.

According to TV4, this is the first time a court outside of Ukraine has ruled that a Russian ship, linked to stolen Ukrainian grain, should be handed over.
