The leader on Japan: "Will make them regret it"

North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un's sister Kim Yo Jong criticized in a statement on Wednesday what she describes as a major arms buildup in Japan, Bloomberg reports.

She also promised that North Korea would respond and that they would "make them regret it".

Kim Yo Jong did not give any further details, but the statement is now linked to the test firing of a ballistic missile that North Korea carried out on Thursday.

North Korea is believed to have test fired a ballistic missile

North Korea has fired what is believed to be a ballistic missile in the direction of Japan, Reuters reports. The trajectory of the missile is not said to have posed any threat to any of the neighboring countries.

North Korea has conducted several weapons tests this year, including short-range missiles, artillery rockets and other tactical weapons. According to Japan, growing military coordination between North Korea, China and Russia poses a security risk to the entire region.
