Wants to stop the boats - targeting social media
The number of migrants who have crossed the English Channel in small boats has exceeded 15,000 this year, writes the BBC. Now the British government, together with several social media companies, will crack down on advertising from smugglers online.
"To stop the boats, we must address the business model of despicable people smugglers as a source," Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said in a statement.
At the same time, the figure for the same time in 2022 was 17,785 migrants, which means a decrease so far this year of 15 percent.

28 dead in train accident in Pakistan - carriages derailed
At least 28 people have died and 40 people have been injured in a train accident in southern Pakistan, writes AFP. According to a government employee, eight train carriages must have derailed.
The accident occurred near a railway station in the city of Nawabshah in southern Pakistan when the train was traveling between Karachi and Abbottbad.
Pictures published in Pakistani media show how people at the scene are breaking windows to help passengers climb out of the carriages, TT writes.

Mafia member arrested: "Betrayed by football"
An Italian suspected mafia member could be arrested after 16 years after being caught on video celebrating his home team Napoli's league win, the BBC writes. In a restaurant on the Greek island of Corfu, the man's was caught on picture holding up the team Napoli's sky blue scarf earlier this summer.
"He was betrayed by his passion for football and for Napoli," Italian police said in a statement.
According to the police, the man is on Italy's list of the country's 100 most dangerous fugitives.
