USA: No specific threats against Poland from the Wagner group 

 

We have no information about specific threats from the Wagner group against Poland and other NATO allies, said John Kirby, spokesman for the US National Security Council. This follows the information that two Belarusian helicopters allegedly violated the airspace of the NATO country Poland during Tuesday, reports Bloomberg.  

 

When asked what further provocations can be expected at the Polish-Belarusian border, Poland's Deputy Minister of Defense Wojciech Skurkiewicz says that "no situation is excluded". 

 

- These are situations that absolutely should not happen, but we are aware of who we have as opponents beyond our eastern border. [...] This is absolutely dangerous, says Skurkiewicz, Polish Tvn24 reports.  

 

Belarus denies the incident and believes that the claim is made to justify an increased military presence at the border.

Russia begins new exercises in the Baltic Sea  

Russia is starting the Ocean Shield 2023 naval exercise in the Baltic Sea, state news agency Ria said, Reuters reports.  

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the navy has started scheduled exercises in the Baltic Sea involving over 30 ships along with 20 support vessels and 30 aircraft. 

TT has spoken to the Swedish Armed Forces, who do not want to comment on the Russian exercise. 

- We have good control over our immediate area, but cannot comment on other countries' exercises, says press spokesperson Marie Tisäter.

Drone attacks on grain warehouses in Ukraine  

 

Port facilities in Odesa and grain warehouses in Izmail in southern Ukraine have been subjected to Russian drone attacks during the night. This is stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram, AP reports.  

 

According to Zelenskyk, ports and several warehouses have been hit and suffered "major damage", and according to the Ministry of Defense, a grain silo in Izmail has been damaged.  

 

Governor Oleg Kiper states that so far there are no reports of injured people. 

 

- As a result of the attack in Odesa, fires broke out at the facilities in the port and industrial infrastructure in the region and an elevator was damaged, says Kiper.  

 

At the same time, in the capital Kyiv, ten drones were shot down by the defense and three districts were reportedly hit by the debris, according to military chief Serhiji Popko.
