American support for Ukraine in NATO is falling
Americans have become more negative about Ukrainian NATO membership in recent months, according to opinion polls conducted by Newsweek.
In a survey conducted on July 25-26, 47 percent of the 1,500 respondents were in favor of Ukrainian membership, and 23 percent "strongly" in favor.
In a similar survey from April 5, 55 percent were in favor of membership, and 30 percent were strongly in favor.
Ahead of the NATO meeting in Vilnius in mid-July, US President Biden said that "the time is not right" for Ukrainian membership because of the war.
However, in a meeting with Ukrainian President Zelenskyi, he added that he "looks forward to celebrating your official entry".

Women in Ukraine's army testify to discrimination
60,000 women serve in the Ukrainian army, of which 5,000 are at the front. Several of them testify in an interview with The Guardian that they are not treated on the same terms as the male soldiers.
The 27-year-old sergeant Nadja Haran describes it as the women of the army fighting two enemies.
- One is Russia, of course. The other is the stereotypes and the stigma we face every day.
One soldier describes it as the army having "Nato standards but Soviet mentality". Ukrainian conscription does not apply to women, but many fight voluntarily.
Several of the women testify that their need for equal career development, and more practical things such as suitable uniforms, body protection and hygiene items, are not considered a priority and sometimes as downright provocative by the male soldiers.
Footage reportedly shows Ukrainian drone attacking the ship
Ukrainian authorities have released a video that they say shows the maritime drone that allegedly destroyed a Russian warship in Novorossiysk in southern Russia this morning. This is written by The Guardian, which published the clip.
The grainy clip appears to be filmed from the tip of a drone gliding up the side of a large ship. Just before the drone arrives, the clip breaks. The Guardian has not been able to verify the origin of the film.
The Ukrainian security service stated earlier in the day that they knocked out a military ship in Novorossiysk. Russia, on the other hand, has claimed that it repelled Ukrainian drone attacks during the morning.
