Called the Pope an "idiot" - came to visit with cookies
Two months after taking office, Argentine President Javier Milei has now visited Pope Francis in the Vatican, several media reports.
Milei has previously called his countryman an "idiot" and "damn leftist" but they now seem to have reconciled. They met for just over an hour, which is described as a long time for the Pope, and pictures show them laughing and hugging each other.
With him to the Vatican, Milei had the popular pastry "alfajo" and lemon biscuits, writes NBC.
According to La Nacion, Milei says that the Pope is the most important person in all of Argentina, something he came to understand after he "reconsidered" some thoughts.

Legal victory gives hope to vulnerable climate scientists
The famous climate scientist Michael Mann has been awarded one million dollars in a defamation case in which he sued two conservative writers.
The case stretches back twelve years and concerns posts on the internet where his research is portrayed as fraudulent. He was also compared to a convicted pedophile.
In a post on X, Mann, who is active at the University of Pennsylvania, writes that he hopes the verdict sends a message not to attack climate scientists on false grounds.
The scientific journal Nature writes that the verdict gives hope to climate scientists who are subjected to political attacks.
Mann is known for developing the MBH98, better known as the hockey club curve, which was published in 1998. The curve has been used to show global temperature trends but has today been replaced by more refined methods.
