Following Argentina's demands: Cameron travels to the Falkland Islands
British Foreign Minister David Cameron will shortly visit the Falkland Islands to "show that they are an important part of the British family", writes the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement.
The visit will be the first by a British minister since 2016, and coincides with Argentina's new president Javier Milei calling for the island group to be handed over to the country.
- The issue of sovereignty will not be up for discussion, says David Cameron, according to Sky News.
Britain and Argentina both claim the archipelago, and in 1982 fought a limited war over sovereignty over the islands. In 2013, a majority of the population voted yes to remain a British territory

The country's new president, Javier Milei, has implemented sweeping cuts in public spending as part of the "shock therapy" he claims will save the country's economy.
