The huge US aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford, which has played an important role in the US war against Iran, has sailed from the Middle East region.

Problems with the ship's toilet system have been reported.

The aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford has been at sea for ten months, and during that time has been in place in the Caribbean in connection with attacks on what the US claims are smuggling vessels, as well as off the coast of Venezuela when US forces brought out Venezuela's then-President Nicolás Maduro.

A fire on board was reported in mid-March. In addition, the aircraft carrier has had problems with the toilets on board, which has created sanitary inconveniences.

The US still has two aircraft carriers deployed in the Middle East: the USS Abraham Lincoln and the USS George HW Bush.
