The Russian Invasion|Putin's Russia
Russian state television made a propaganda feature on Åland - filmed the president's boat
The Russian state propaganda channel Rossija-1 has visited Åland and made a six-minute television feature. The feature covered Åland's demilitarization and filmed when President Alexander Stubb arrived in Mariehamn.
Hufvudstadsbladet reports that from Finland's side it is mainly regarded as informational influence directed at Russia's own population.
In an email, the Swedish Security Service writes that it is permitted to film in public places in Finland.
"The intention is to influence perceptions of Finland. The feature also contains elements that denigrate Ukrainian refugees.”
Russia expert Kalle Kniivilä tells Åland radio that the feature is a classic case of propaganda television.
- It's a fairly typical feature that mixes truth, half-truth and possibly some lies as well, he says.

Azerbaijan-Armenia relations
Azerbaijan joins Brics - after Putin's visit
Azerbaijan has applied for membership in the Brics geopolitical bloc, which includes China and Russia. This is reported by AP.
The announcement comes a day after Vladimir Putin visited Azerbaijan and met the country's President Ilham Aliyev.
Russia was long an ally of Armenia, which is in a long-running conflict with Azerbaijan, but the relationship has deteriorated sharply in recent years.
Armenia has accused Russia of failing to act when Azerbaijan launched an offensive against the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region last year.
Putin is dependent on countries like Azerbaijan to gain access to international markets, AP reports. During yesterday's meeting, Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan will earmark the equivalent of SEK 1.2 billion to promote transport between the countries.

The allegations against Biden
Republicans: Biden should be impeached
House Republicans have released a nearly 300-page report alleging that Joe Biden has committed impeachable crimes. Several media reports.
According to the report, Biden has "abused his position for private financial gain for the Biden family and Biden's business partners." In total, it will be about $27 million that Biden earned during his time as vice president from 2009-2017.
However, several media outlets write that the report seems to be largely based on hearsay, and that no definitive evidence links Biden to the money.
It is not yet clear whether Republicans will demand a vote to impeach Biden. A conviction would require a two-thirds majority in the Democratic-controlled Senate. Such a vote would therefore "almost certainly fail", according to CNBC.
