Sources: Tim Walz to be Harris's running mate
Kamala Harris has named Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her vice presidential candidate, multiple sources told several American media outlets including CNN, the New York Times, AP and The Hill.
60-year-old Walz has a background as a teacher, coach and high-ranking member of the US National Guard before sitting in Congress in Washington for twelve years.
Fox News reports that Walz is good at raising money, having helped the Democratic Governors Association raise record amounts this year. In addition, Walz as a pair horse would not only mean help in Minnesota, but also in the two neighboring states of Wisconsin and Michigan, the channel reports.
Three sources with knowledge of the matter told the AP that Harris' announcement is expected to come within hours - before she and the vice-presidential candidate are due to make a joint appearance at a campaign rally in Philadelphia.

The Trump campaign pushed the button immediately: "SO BAD"
Donald Trump's campaign is immediately attacking Tim Walz after information leaked that the 60-year-old Minnesota governor is Kamala Harris' running mate. NBC reports.
In an email to contributors, the Trump campaign writes that Walz will "unleash hell on earth" in the event of an election win for the Democrats. Trump's team writes that Walz is worse than "dangerously liberal" and "dishonest" Kamala Harris:
“HE IS SO BAD.”
Kamala Harris is expected to announce her decision later Tuesday.
The presidential election in the United States is taking place at a fast pace - and strategists in both parties agree that it will most likely be an advantage for Vice President Kamala Harris, writes the New York Times' Adam Nagourney in an analysis.
Republican candidate Donald Trump's staff's prepared attacks against Joe Biden are now in vain and they are forced to rethink, at the same time Harris has been presented to the voters as a solution to a problem, he writes and quotes Jennifer Palmieri who was recruited to Harris's campaign.
On the Republican side, consultant Mike Muprhy, an outspoken Trump critic, believes that Harris has the advantage that she represents the future, writes Nagourney.
During the day, Harris will announce who her co-candidate will be in the 2024 election, a decision that is considered critical, writes CNN's Stephen Collinson in an analysis. One of her most important considerations may be to choose someone who does not detract from her so far successful campaign - either through actions or skeletons in the closet, he writes.
"A mistake in vetting her election could give Trump and his campaign an opportunity to pick apart a poorly vetted candidacy and regain some traction."
