Call to the politicians: Review your own security
UK MPs are being urged to review their security procedures in the wake of violent riots rocking the country following the Southport stabbing.
According to The Guardian, a call has gone out from Parliament Speaker Lindsay Hoyle. He writes that one possible measure is to contact the local police to create a picture of what is happening in the immediate area. Others are encouraged to work from home, especially those whose workplaces are "easily identified".
The police are expecting far-right protests in over 100 places on Wednesday evening.
The violence erupted after the Southport stabbing in which three children were killed, and has been fueled by false reports that the perpetrator was an asylum seeker and a Muslim. However, he was born in the UK with roots from Rwanda.
The far-right profile Tommy Robinson is one of the foreground figures for the protests. Reuters writes that many participants describe themselves as patriots, who are critical of the country's migration policy.

Chaotic evening in the UK - over 100 protests expected
Over 100 protests led by far-right groups are expected in Britain this evening, writes The Guardian.
In addition, around 30 counter-protests are expected, according to the newspaper's information. A police source says police are predicting the rowdiest night since the protests started last week. So far, 428 arrests have been made.
The evening's protests mainly take place at various buildings connected to asylum seekers and immigration. The protests have consistently been critical of immigration and cries like "get them out" and "stop the boats" have been heard, according to Reuters.
The protests started after the stabbing in Southport, where three young girls were killed. False information was quickly spread that the perpetrator was an asylum seeker, a Muslim and came to Great Britain by boat in 2023.
In fact, the now 18-year-old perpetrator Axel Rudakubana was born in Wales. His parents are from Rwanda and are Christians, according to British tabloids. There is no indication that the 18-year-old is Muslim, according to the BBC.
