Spain's leader wants the EU to rethink China tariffs

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez calls on his EU colleagues to rethink the electric car tariffs against China, writes the Financial Times.

- Honestly [...] We don't need a new war, in this case a trade war, the Prime Minister said in a speech outside Shanghai on Wednesday.

Sánchez wants to use his three-day visit to promote Spanish exports to China. But there is concern about retaliatory tariffs against the country's extensive pork exports in the wake of the EU's electric car tariffs.

The play signals a turning point in Spain's stance on tariffs against China, the newspaper writes.
