The election in the United States

Analysis: Voters' enthusiasm will be decisive in the election

The fact that more and more polls show Kamala Harris as the winner of the presidential debate against Donald Trump on Wednesday night does not mean that she will win the election. That's what Stephen Collinson writes in an analysis in CNN.

It is unclear how many electoral votes she can win over, and the state of opinion remains even.

"Now Harris' allies are trying to amplify the mocking tone and provocations against Trump," he writes.

Those who want to predict the election should focus on the turnout, not on the opinion figures, writes Philip Bump in the Washington Post.

He references a survey that asks about voters' enthusiasm for going to the polls in November. A month ago, it was six out of ten among both Democrats and Republicans. Today, seven out of ten Democrats are enthusiastic.

"If the polls continue to show a slight lead for Harris or Trump, their ability to get people to actually go and cast their ballots could decide the election," Bump writes.

Sources: Preparing Prosecution for Iran Data Breach - Hunt for Mysterious 'Robert'

The US Department of Justice is preparing an indictment linked to a suspected Iranian data breach against the Trump campaign, sources told the Washington Post.

The FBI's investigation of the events focuses, according to the newspaper's sources, on the person who called himself "Robert", and who offered to provide several media outlets with secret documents from the Trump campaign.

Hackers linked to Iran have previously been singled out as responsible for the breach, which led, among other things, to an internal evaluation of JD Vance's suitability as a vice presidential candidate being leaked to the US media.

Bomb threats against the city in Trump's conspiracy theories

The town hall and a school were evacuated after bomb threats on Thursday in the small town of Springfield in Ohio, USA, reports AFP. The city was unknown to most people until Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump began spreading conspiracy theories about Haitian immigrants in the city stealing and eating pets and committing violent crimes.

The city's mayor, Rob Rue, would not comment on the threat, but said it was about "frustration related to issues with Haitian immigrants," he told the local Springfield News Sun.

- Some of [the city's Haitian residents] fear for their lives, says Rose-Thamar Joseph of a local aid organization to AP.

Harris and Trump are racing to swing states

Presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are targeting their campaigns on the wave master states in a razor-sharp opinion situation, US media reports.

Harris travels to North Carolina and enters a "more aggressive phase" where she wants to try to use her advantage after the debate against Trump on Wednesday night, according to her campaign staff, according to NBC. On Friday, she will speak in Pennsylvania for the sixth time in seven days. It shows how important the state is, writes the New York Times.

Trump travels to Arizona and plans to focus on the economy and housing costs, his campaign staff said -- broad election issues for middle-of-the-road voters.
