Paasikivi: "Quite likely" that arms restrictions will be lifted

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy and his American counterpart Antony Blinken arrived in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on Wednesday morning.

The visit is seen as an opportunity for Ukraine to push for the use of American long-range weapons in the war against Russia. Then Ukraine could strike airfields central to Moscow's long-range drone attacks on Ukrainian cities.

The former lieutenant colonel Joakim Paasikivi considers it "quite likely" that the restrictions will be lifted. He tells SR Ekot that it would enable Ukraine to strike air bases from which Russian attack planes operate.

At the same time, he points out, the protracted process has enabled the Russians to move the aircraft backwards and thus reduce the risk of Ukrainian attacks.

The US is "working on" Ukraine's terms for long-range weapons

The US is reviewing whether to lift restrictions on Ukraine using US long-range weapons to hit targets deep inside Russia. That's what President Joe Biden says, according to Reuters.

- We are working on it right now, Biden answers when asked if he can imagine easing the restrictions.

On Wednesday, Foreign Minister Antony Blinken will visit Kyiv, and then Ukraine will have another chance to pressure the US on the issue, writes Politico.

Kyiv has repeatedly demanded that Ukraine be given the opportunity to attack targets inside Russia with American long-range weapons. According to TT, the situation has intensified following information that Iran has started supplying Russia with long-range robots.
