Tusk urges the West not to overreact to Putin's threats

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk urges the West not to attach too much importance to threats from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

- Rather, they show how difficult the situation is for Russia at the front, he says according to the BBC.

Putin yesterday threatened NATO with war if Ukraine is allowed to use long-range weapons against targets inside Russia. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has also commented on Russia's threats, saying that Putin started the war and can choose to end it whenever he wants.

Vance: Demilitarized zone in Ukraine one of Trump's plans to end the war

A demilitarized zone could be one of Donald Trump's plans to end the war in Ukraine if he wins the US presidential election. This is what the vice-presidential candidate JD Vance says in an interview with the podcast "The Shawn Ryan Show", several media reports.

Vance says such a demilitarized zone would be heavily guarded "so the Russians don't invade again."

The vice-presidential candidate also states that part of the peace plan would mean that Ukraine retains its independence in exchange for the country not joining NATO or other alliances.

Trump has previously said he will end the war in Ukraine if he becomes president. In this week's debate against Kamala Harris, the former president said he would "get it done" even before becoming president.

Putin's Russia
Russia sends home six British diplomats

Russia accuses six British diplomats of espionage and sends them home. The FSB security service claims that the diplomats belong to a unit within the foreign administration whose main task is to inflict "strategic losses" on Russia, writes TT.

Through their meetings with independent media and human rights groups, the diplomats have been branded "foreign agents", a term used by Vladimir Putin's regime to silence dissent.
