Political situation in Great Britain
Badenoch and Cleverly are favorites in the Tory election

Former Foreign Secretary James Cleverly sails forward as one of two favorites as the party leadership election in the British Tories draws to a close. This is reported by several Bittish media.

After the just concluded party conference in Birmingham, the Tory website Conservative Home conducted a survey among members. There, Cleverly ends up in second place, which is considered a big advance because he previously gathered low support among his party colleagues.

The best chance of being elected is still believed to be former trade minister Kemi Badenoch.

Political situation in Argentina
Milei's celebrated speech at the UN was ripped from the "West Wing"

At the end of September, Argentine President Javier Milei gave a celebrated speech in the UN General Assembly. Now it turns out that a supporting part had been directly copied from the television series "West Wing".

About a week passed before Argentinian La Nacion columnist Carlos Pagni noted the similarities.

The passage where Milei talks about the importance of freedom of speech is almost identical to the speech the character President Bartlett gives to his employees in the series - which in Sweden is called "The White House" - in the fourth season.

A clip of Milei's speech on YouTube is littered with comments praising the Argentine president for his eloquence. "Best speech ever" is one of the reviews.

Milei's strategic advisor Santiago Caputo is a big fan of the series and, according to Argentine media, has seen it "between seven and nine times".

The Guardian writes that there is an irony in the unpredictable populist Milei being inspired in this way by a fictional traditional democratic president.

Hurricane season
After Helene's ravages - a new hurricane is expected in Florida

Less than two weeks after the devastating storm Helene, a new hurricane is now on its way to the already badly ravaged Florida, states the US hurricane agency NHC according to American media.

Storm Milton has grown to a Category 1 hurricane on the five-point scale, with wind gusts of 36 meters per second, and is expected to increase to a Category 3 before making landfall in the Tampa area on Wednesday.

- I don't think there is any scenario where there won't be a big impact [...] if you are on the west coast of Florida, assume that you will be asked to evacuate, says Governor Ron DeSantis.

230 people died during Helene's path through the southeastern United States, making it the deadliest hurricane in the country since Katrina in the summer of 2005.
