Putin pauses attacks on Kyiv for three days
Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly ordered the military to stop all attacks on Kyiv for the next three days. This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, according to Reuters.
The temporary ceasefire is due to the fact that American negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are visiting Moscow this weekend to discuss a new peace proposal. The duo will later travel to Kyiv for talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyj.
Ukraine's military has also been ordered to begin a ceasefire between midnight on Saturday and 11:59 pm on Tuesday, several commanders in various units told Ukrainian Pravda on Friday.
US negotiators in Moscow – to present peace proposal
US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have landed in Moscow, witnesses told Reuters. The duo are said to have landed at the government airport and then traveled to the city in a motorcade. The purpose of the visit is to hold new talks on peace in Ukraine with their Russian counterparts, according to two sources with insight into the trip.
On Friday, President Donald Trump said the duo would also present a completely new peace proposal to the Kremlin.
After the visit to Russia, the envoys will travel to Ukraine to discuss the proposal, which President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously told about on X.
Trump: I know Putin – he will not attack NATO
Donald Trump dismisses reports that Russia is behind acts of sabotage against neighboring countries, reports Politico.
– I know Putin very well. He will not attack any NATO country, says Trump.
On Friday, the American president was asked questions, among other things, about the bomb drones discovered at an airport in Germany earlier this summer. According to European intelligence agencies, the drones were probably Russian.
