US “Economic D-Day” Against Iran Moves Slowly
Two weeks after it was announced, the US’s new economic war against Iran, which the Trump administration calls an “economic D-Day”, has not resulted in much. CNN reports.
Earlier this week, US diplomats were tasked with urging their host countries to “systematically identify and cut” ties to Iran, and close Iranian bank branches.
On Friday, the Treasury Department also announced that it is taking action against a Turkish bank and its subsidiaries, which are designated as “crucial economic lifelines” for Iran.
At the same time, experts are skeptical that the US will take any significant measures against Iran’s most important allies, such as China – and that the measures will affect Iran to any great extent at all.
– Iran has been living with and circumventing sanctions for half a century, they can handle anything, says a source in the region.

Spotify founder threatens to leave the country "immediately"
Spotify co-founder Martin Lorentzon is threatening to leave Sweden if a new wealth tax is introduced, according to Bloomberg.
"I would prefer to stay, but such a tax would mean that I have to leave the country immediately," he writes in a comment to the news agency after his debate article on the subject in Expressen.
In the ongoing election campaign, a billionaire tax has been proposed by both the Left Party and the Green Party. It is not clear whether this is the proposal Lorentzon is referring to.
"Is it reasonable for a person to have a billion? That can be discussed. Nobody needs a billion kronor," Lorentzon himself writes in his debate article.
According to Bloomberg's own data, Lorentzon is worth the equivalent of 110 billion kronor.
