Trump on Iran War: “Small Potatoes”
US President Donald Trump calls the war in Iran “small potatoes” – a statement that is expected but receives strong criticism from the opposition.
It was on Friday that Trump was asked about Vice President JD Vance’s statement that he would not call the situation in Iran a war.
– I understand what he means. I call it a military conflict because it is small potatoes to us. It is no big deal, said the president.
The opposition’s response was not long in coming. The Democratic minority leader in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, wrote on X that there is “nothing small” about the situation.
“Tell that to the families of the 18 soldiers we lost,” he writes, among other things.
Iran has attacked targets in several countries in the Middle East over the past week in response to US strikes on Iran. The attacks followed a period of relative calm in the region.
