A violent storm threatens California.
14 million people are said to be at risk.
- It is a serious storm that can be life-threatening, says Governor Gavin Newsom.
The American weather institute NWS has declared a state of emergency in ten areas of California warning of potential danger to life.
According to the forecast, major floods, landslides, sky-high waves and violent winds are expected.
"It is extremely dangerous to stay in areas along the coast," states the NWS.
In the Sierra Nevada, at the same time, "very heavy snow" threatens, which will make it dangerous and impossible to get around in traffic.
The storm has already begun to move in over the state. The strong winds have caused trees to fall over roads and houses. A Sacramento Valley man was killed Sunday when a tree fell on him.

"Dangerous"
Now they are preparing for more chaos.
An evacuation order has been issued for residents in several areas of Los Angeles, Santa Clara and Santa Barbara. On Sunday, several flights in Santa Barbara were also canceled.
"This is a serious storm with dangerous and potentially life-threatening effects," said Governor Gavin Newsom, continuing:
- California is ready with a record number of measures to deal with the effects of this storm.
The NWS says Monday could be one of the most dramatic weather days in living memory.
