King Charles III has cancer. 

 

It was discovered when he examined his enlarged prostate.  

 

Now he postpones his assignments, the British court announces.  

 

When Britain's king Charles III, 75, was to examine his enlarged prostate, it was discovered that he has cancer. This is announced by the British court.  

 

“During the King's recent procedure for benign prostatic enlargement, something else was found of concern. Subsequent tests show that it was cancer," writes the court.  

 

However, it should not be about prostate cancer but some other form of cancer. His upcoming assignment is now postponed indefinitely. At the same time, he retains his constitutional role as king, writes the court. 

 

"In good spirits" 

 

Today he received his first cancer treatment. 

 

"The King is in good spirits and grateful for the help he receives from his medical team," the press release reads.

Furthermore, the court writes that King Charles wants to be open about his illness to prevent speculation. He also hopes that it will increase understanding of people around the world who suffer from cancer. 

 

Harry travels to Britain  

 

The message must also have reached Prince Harry, writes Sky News.  

 

"The Duke has spoken to his father about the diagnosis. He will travel to the UK to meet His Majesty in the coming days," a source said.  

 

The cancer announcement has worried US President Joe Biden. He plans to call him "later", writes Sky News. 

 

On September 8, 2022, Charles became king. He was crowned on 6 May 2023. 

 

No other regent has been crowned at such an advanced age before.
